WHAT IS TEMPORARY CONTRACT WORK?
Simply put, "temporary" is not permanent. Our projects
run from one day to a week, a month, a year or even longer.
"Contract" means we are contracted by the "Client" for
"special projects," and then we "sub-contract" with technicians
to complete those "Special Projects." Contract and sub-contract
work is not hourly or salaried - it is a specific dollar
amount for a specific task to be completed.
Our workforce consists of individuals who sub-contract
with us to complete a specific project and are then paid when
the site or project is
complete.

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR JOBS?
Contact us by e-mail; HR@PhoinixGroup.com.
We prefer you attach your
resume in either .doc or
.txt format. Please
highlight your work
experience, when & where
you are available, and how
we can contact you (phone,
e-mail, and physical
address). You may also submit your resume
online.

WHAT KIND OF JOBS WILL PHOINIX OFFER ME?
The Phoinix Group specializes in Information Systems and Office
Automation. For instance, one company in Texas contracted us
to unpack their hardware, check and upgrade their office
LAN cabling, load software and synchronize their office
automation hardware, troubleshoot problems, and then to
pack and ship out their excess/outdated hardware. In most
cases, this was a one-day job at each site (Houston had more sites than "Small-Town," TX).
*************
IN WHAT STATES DOES THE PHOINIX GROUP HAVE WORK?
The Phoinix Group has an active
presence in all 50 states, but we are
constantly expanding so that we can provide our clients with the
coverage they need for quick project completion. If a client needs
our services in a location for which we do not currently have a
technician assigned, we will provide a trip allowance to the tech
to respond to these sites.
*************
IS THIS WORK PERMANENT?
No, this is not a permanent position. But you can be as
permanent with us as you may wish. Obviously, the
more available you are, the more often we will use your
services. Our work is all "Contract"/"Sub-Contract" and
there will be no shortage of it. As our workforce grows,
we grow; and as we grow, there is more work to contract
out. As long as you are available to us, we will be there
for you.
*************
ARE THERE "BENEFITS?
Our "workers" are "Sub-Contractors." By legal definition,
they are not employees. Not only is our workforce responsible
for their own retirement/benefit packages, they are responsible
to the IRS for their income reporting and taxes. They are
also responsible for their own Social Security requirements/benefits. As our "Sub-Contractors," they are paid only for "contracted
work" that is completed. We will send form 1099-A to the
IRS for purposes of income reporting. You will receive
a copy of this form.
*************
WHAT IF THE WORK SITE IS AWAY FROM MY HOME?
Sometimes, companies with which we do business will provide
a transportation allowance and "per diem." We will negotiate
that on your behalf.
Simply put, we pay you to work. If there are additional
expenses that you incur, all approved
expenses will be reimbursed without any payroll deductions.
*************
WHAT IF THE WORK SITE COMPANY OFFERS ME A PERMANENT
JOB?
The Phoinix Group is a contract work company, not a headhunter. Our workforce is "Rising
From The Ashes of a past career";
if the worker is offered a permanent job opportunity,
we are not in your way. We do not expect a fee from either
the worker or the employing company. We only congratulate
the worker on the job offer.
*************
IS THE PHOINIX GROUP A GOOD CAREER MOVE FOR ME?
That depends on what your goals are. The availability of
projects is influenced by not only your skill set, but
also the locations of the projects. The market place is
the definitive answer.
*************
I'M RETIRED. CAN I WORK FOR PHOINIX?
YES. Phoinix focuses on experience, and a retired
person is certainly experienced. In fact, we welcome retired
workers. For the retiree, what can be better than to load
up your RV and go someplace for a few weeks-and have
enough employment income to cover your vacation costs?
*************
I JUST GOT "LET GO" BY MY LAST EMPLOYER, CAN I WORK
FOR THE PHOINIX GROUP?
Why did you really leave your last job? If it was no fault
of yours, (for instance company downsizing), then YES.
If you were released for cause, than probably not. Phoinix focuses on experience and has an "on-time" completion
record. We rely on our workforce to be self-starters and
dependable. The dedication of our workforce holds the key
to our reputation, so we will certainly be checking your
references.
*************
I JUST COMPLETED TRADE SCHOOL, CAN I WORK FOR PHOINIX?
There are jobs/contracts for which we need a less experienced
"helper". So YES, we can use you. And, it's
a good opportunity for you to gain experience in the field. On occasion there may be an age requirement; for example,
in order to rent a car or similar item, but don't be
afraid to send in your resume.
*************
WHY DO YOU SPELL PHOINIX THE WRONG WAY?
The legend of the bird is rooted in the classic myths of
both Greek and Arabic cultures. In the ancient Greek alphabet,
there was no "e". The popular "Phoinix" spelling is a
less-ancient, English, and phonetic in spelling.
In Greece, there was a traditional work ethic of "a fair
day's work for a fair day's pay," and there was a classic
pride in a job well done. THE PHOINIX GROUP chose the original
spelling to reflect our work ethic--"a job well-done"
with "a fair day's pay for a fair day's work." We don't
spell it wrong; we spell it "the old way," because that's
how we do business.

CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE LEGENDARY BIRD?
The Phoinix is a bird from ancient Greek, Egyptian, and
Arabian mythology that lived in Arabia, near a cool well.
Every morning at dawn, the sun god would stop his chariot
to listen to the bird sing a beautiful song while it bathed
in the well. The Phoinix is described as a heron in Egypt,
but is usually depicted as a peacock or eagle-like bird
with red and gold plumage.
Only one Phoinix could exist at one time. When the bird
felt its death was near, (every 500 to 1,461 years), it
would build a nest of aromatic wood and set it on fire.
The flames then consumed the bird. A new Phoinix sprang
forth from the pyre. It embalmed the ashes of its predecessor
in an egg of myrrh and flew with it to Heliopolis, "city
of the sun," where the egg was deposited on the altar
of the sun god. This process is said to symbolize the
rising and setting of the sun.
The Phoinix symbolizes immortality, resurrection, and life
after death. Depictions of a Phoinix have appeared in
Egyptian, Greek, Hindu, and Chinese art and writings for
a very long time. It also later appeared in medieval Christian
writings as a symbol of death and resurrection. Its flight
has been said to represent the capacity to leave the world
and its problems behind, flying towards the sun in clear
pure skies.
In China, the Phoinix (si ling) was one of a number of
animals that were worshipped. A common depiction was of
it attacking snakes with its talons and its wings spread.
In fact, images of the Phoinix have appeared in China
for more than 7000 years, often in jade and originally
on good-luck totems. During the Han period (2200 years
ago) the Phoinix was used as a symbol depicting the direction
South, shown as a male and female Phoinix facing each
other. It was also used to symbolize the Empress in a
pairing with a dragon in which the dragon represents the
Emperor. Here the Phoinix represented power sent from the heavens
to the Empress.
If a Phoinix was used to decorate a house, it symbolized
that loyalty and honesty were in the people that lived
there. It was also believed that a Phoinix controlled
the five tones of Chinese music, and that it represented
the Confucian virtues of loyalty, honesty, decorum and
justice. Depictions of the Phoinix were placed on tombs
and graves. Also, jewelry with a Phoinix on it showed
that the wearer was a person of high moral values. This
jewelry was only to be worn by people of importance.
